Abstract. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the «lavender» vocabulary in the Russian language. The above concept refers to lexical units used in the Russian language to nominate non-heteronormative psychosexual orientations, namely bisexual and homosexual and non-heteronormative liya. In the article, the author reveals the scientific potential of the nomenclature of psychosexual orientations. Characteristic features of terminology are singled out and described.
As the article is devoted to vocabulary and its semantic analysis, the research methods are: theoretical and methodological analysis of the sources on the problem of research; descriptive method, represented by such methods as selection, processing and interpretation of material; method of analysis of dictionary definitions; method of semantic field.
The scientific novelty of this work lies in the semantic analysis of lexical units of the Russian language from the field of lavender linguistics, also known as gay language (Gayspeak), the language of LGBT. Lavender linguistics is a term, a linguistic label for the field of linguistic research, which represents the style, language, and linguistic and communicative behavior of people referred to by the acronym LGBT.
As a result of the work carried out, the correct names for the discussed psychosexual orientations or their representatives were clarified, and it was also revealed that one of the problems of the nomenclature of non-heteronormative persons is, first of all, the connotation with sexes. It should be emphasized that the correct names for the discussed psychosexual orientations or their representatives are terms without endings that impose the assessment of «ист/истка/изм/» (ist/ist/ism), i.e.: гомосексуальность (homosexuality), but not гомосексуализм (homosexualism) or лесбиянство (lesbianism); бисексуальность (bisexuality), but not бисексуализм (bisexualitsm); гомосексуал/гей (gay), but not гомосексуалистка (homosexualist); лесбиянка (lesbian), but not гомосексуалистка; бисексуал/бисексуалка (bisexual), but not бисексуалист/бисексуалистка.
