The formation of the cultural background of the concept of «man as a goal» / «man as a means of» supplementary education institutions

Abstract. The article deals with additional education for children in the intersection of three subject areas: social and cultural activities, cultural studies and ethics. It is shown that the concept of «man as a means» is spreading in the sphere of additional education. Children act in the system of additional education as a means to achieve their own goals of teachers and the system as a whole. The relation to the person as to the purpose is possible only in the form of revolt against system.

The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the provisions of the activity concept of culture, according to which culture is considered as a specific way of human life. The research is also based on the General principles of the theory of everyday culture and cognitive Culturology, which study the cognitive mechanisms of human development of culture. The research method is based on the principles of structural and functional analysis. The research methodology includes observation, description and content analysis of communication texts that arise in the process of additional education, as well as advertising and informational texts on behalf of relevant institutions. The study used the method of interviewing practicing teachers, children and their parents.

The empirical base of the research is the institutions of additional education in the city of Rostov-on-don, as well as budgetary institutions that provide additional services in the field of education: sports and music schools, art schools, and socio-cultural institutions (cultural and leisure centers).
