Abstract. The article examines the education system in the formation of national security. National security is an integrative phenomenon that includes many structural elements: the integrity of the state, the ability to solve sovereign political, economic, social and cultural development tasks, protection from internal and external threats, ensuring the interests of the individual and society. Based on the generalization of the theoretical aspects of the study, the authors identify the main elements that influence the security and well-being of the nation: legislative, executive, judicial institutions. At the same time, the authors turn to the education system as a powerful tool in the formation of national security, ensuring the implementation of its main directions in the conditions of digital transformation. The article shows the mechanisms of attracting young people to protect the interests of the country through digital content. Favorable conditions for the formation of competencies related to ensuring national security in the information society have been identified. It is established that among the factors influencing the level of patriotism and interest of students in preserving the territorial, political, economic, social and cultural integrity of the state, emotional ties, historical memory, ensuring belonging, community, appeal to the values of their nation play an important role. Ensuring emotional ties, preserving community, maintaining interest in the history of the country and its people provides a solid basis for motivating the younger generation to protect the interests of their state, family and environment, close in spirit, united by a common culture. The data obtained during a series of interviews by specialists of higher educational institutions allowed us to conclude about the effectiveness of the methods used to form competencies. The study showed the high importance of the role of the education system in ensuring national security.
