Abstract. The scientific article considers the conceptual and terminological triad «socialization-desocialization-resocialization» and other related concepts. Concepts and ideas similar in content to «socialization» are presented, which characterize individual stages of human personality development and are applied in interdisciplinary fields of scientific knowledge. The interrelation and differences of desocialization, socialisatie, resocialization, rehabilitation, social adaptation.

Attention is focused on the contradictory understanding of factors, the nature and nature of the phenomenon of socialization. The article reveals the essence of socialization as the main system-forming category of the triad, which ensures the normativity and stability of human development in the social environment, the accumulation of social experience in the conditions of an uneven level of human activity in society.

The article analyzes the concept of «desocialization» it is established that between socialization and desocialization of the individual, in a certain period of time, there are qualitative changes. To clarify the characteristics of the desocialization process, a terminological analysis and various approaches to use in scientific discourse are carried out.

Conducted a comprehensive study of the definition of «resocialization», characterized by approaches to studying and understanding the essential content of the process of resocialization, analyses the different interpretations of the concept «socialization», including the penitentiary issues. Various models of resocialization of persons who «do not fit in» with the socio-cultural environment that has developed in modern Russian society are presented. Considerable attention is paid to the content of the category «resocialization of convicts» and the sociological analysis of penitentiary aspects of resocialization. A detailed explanation of the targets for resocialization of convicted persons and specific practical tasks necessary to achieve optimal results is provided.
