Abstract. This article is devoted to the study of the linguistic and pragmatic specifics of the representation of communicative and cultural memory in a transmedia format from the perspective of media linguistics and communication theory. The relevance of the study is due to the need to understand the traumatic past of the inhabitants of East and West Germany in the framework of the formation of national identity using linguistic tools. The purpose of the study is to identify a set of communicative tactics and to describe the linguistic means that verbalize the culture of memory about the period of the division of Germany. The empirical basis of the work is the text content of the web resource of the Federal Fund for Rethinking the Dictatorship of the Socialist United Party of Germany (Bundesstiftung-aufarbeitung.de), as well as online projects supervised by the Foundation, namely Zeitzeugenbuero.de, Enquete-Online.de, Erinnerungsdebatten.de. To explain the patterns of tactics implementation and identify the linguistic means of their representation, the methods of pragmalinguistic analysis, discourse analysis, intent and content analysis were used. The total amount of text material obtained by the continuous sampling method made 180 000 printed characters. The author comes to the conclusion that modern German media discourse uses a set of complementary communicative tactics that verbalize the central strategy of memorial culture in relation to the former East Germany — the strategy of overcoming the past. Depending on the target audience and the concept of the project, tactics of personification and emotional involvement, problematization and reflection, criticism and self-criticism are used, which receive different linguistic embodiments and demonstrate empathetic, debatable and normative-evaluative approaches.
