Abstract. The article presents the results of a sociological study of the level and factors of satisfaction with the work of employees in the field of education in relation to the key characteristics of their work: work motivation, work activity, involvement in the labor process. 400 employees of organizations of general, professional and additional education from 66 subjects of the Russian Federation took part in the online survey conducted in late 2020 — early 2021. The necessity and relevance of the conducted research is due to the specificity of the content and working conditions, qualification characteristics of personnel in educational institutions, respectively, the study of factors of labor activity, job satisfaction and labor motivation of employees in the field of education is necessary in order to form effective personnel management practices in the field under study.
The study revealed a fairly high overall level of satisfaction with the work of employees in the field of education, which corresponds to a high level of labor activity and involvement in the labor process. The analysis of the factors of job satisfaction made it possible to assess the influence of factors of external and internal motivation. External factors include income, working conditions, career prospects, and internal factors include a sense of importance, interest in work, and vocation. The postulate about the insignificant influence of the amount of income of employees in the field of education on the level of their job satisfaction, labor activity, involvement in the labor process and dedication is proved. The statistically reliably revealed weak relationship between these characteristics means that in addition to decent remuneration for employees, other factors, both external and internal, are also important in the aggregate, and their motivation is based on a variety of work values.
