Abstract. The article is devoted to Russian traditions and postmodern strategies in Alexander Potapov’s lubochny graphics. The authors of the article note that by blurring the boundaries of time and space, postmodern traditions in their domestic manifestation preserve national values in Alexander Nikitovich Potapov’s splint graphics. Lubok, being a vivid manifestation of national identity, addressed to such polar manifestations of national character as faith, «laughing» and buffoonish traditions, at the same time addressed to such an important indicator as the spirituality of the national cultural tradition. Alexander Potapov’s splintering style is evident in his graphic works as a mockery of the antipodes of a certain ideal. The article notes that A.N. Potapov’s splint graphics are based on a synthesis of the arts: fine art, theatrical performance and literature complement each other organically. Russian Russian wedding, Russian proverbs, and the national calendar are the main themes of many of A.N. Potapov’s graphic works. At the same time, the images of A.N. Potapov’s splint graphics are ambiguous, metaphorical, they combine reality and fantasy, irony and good humor. Methods of figurative-stylistic and comparative art historical analysis were used to analyze A. Potapov’s graphics. The authors emphasize that his splint graphics of the artist are filled with Russian stylistics in the spirit of postmodernism.
