Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the motif of the way in the genre of a literary fairy tale in the work of the aspiring Mansi writer, a representative of the Upper Lozva river Mansi people, Tatyana Prokopyevna Bakhtiyarova in the semantic aspect. The objective of the study is to determine the functional significance of the motif of the way in the space of the literary fairy tale «Vitkul», which for the first time becomes the object of scientific analysis and is introduced into the context of Finno-Ugric literary studies. The motif of the way in the work is structurally forming, and its artistic, lexical and semantic, associative meaning becomes decisive at all levels of the author’s narrative. Understanding the motif of the way in the work of T.P. Bakhtiyarova reveals the essence of her creative individuality. The specificity of the author’s artistic discourse can be traced in the original interpretation of the plot and images of the fairy tale, modeling the interaction and communication of the characters, their naming, description, which give it a philosophical character, create a story not only of one family, but also of the Mansi people as a whole. The theme of the way forms the ideology and aesthetics of the Mansi literary fairy tale and convincingly reflects the cultural and national traditions of the Mansi people, their religion, folklore and mythology.

The form of the motif of the way in the fairy tale is realized in the spatial movement of the main characters. The plot of the work is based on the description of the way of the shaman who saves the stolen soul of a girl. The points of the beginning and the end of his way are shown during the «trance action», meeting with characters from another world. The movement of the shaman takes place on the earth in a horizontal projection and in a vertical projection in the Lower underwater space.
