Abstract. Concept as a tool of linguistic description of the phenomenon of sympathy is determined by correlation problem of language and feelings. Evaluation is first of all a judgment of value containing the subjective component — positive or negative attitude of the subject of the assessment, i.g. a person (individual, society) who expresses his or her judgment toward the object, i.g. thing or phenomenon which is being assessed, and the objective component aimed at qualities of those things or phenomena which serve as base of evaluation. The phenomenon of sympathy is one of the significant entities of German culture which impacts on all the spheres of human life. Resuming knowledge of sympathy displays its psychological and ideological importance. The article is dedicated to complete description of sympathy as the phenomenon of human psychological life. The purpose of the article is to analyze interpretations of feelings in psychology, figure out basic conceptual features reflecting the ontological essence of sympathy — feeling and attitude.
