Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of artificial nomination of tourist and excursion routes, in particular, the use of various techniques of metagraphics in their creation. Its relevance is caused by a combination of several factors: the long-standing interest of linguists in onymic nomination in the Russian language, the lack of research on the uniqueness of the names of tourist and excursion routes (iteronyms), and the ambiguity of approaches to the phenomenon of grapho-derivation in linguistics. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the features of the graphic design of tourist and excursion routes in Russia, and to determine the functions of specific methods of metagraphics. The source of the factual material was the websites of domestic travel agencies. The author’s card index contains 1 000 examples, 6,4 % (64 units) of which are examples with metagraphics. Based on the graphoderivation model proposed by B. Tosovic, it was revealed that the examples in the author’s card catalog units with intragraphoderivation (capitalization, pluralization, and monoslash) and extragraphoderivation (Cyrillic → Latin) dominate. These units make up 78 % of the total number of metagraphic iteronyms. About 14 % of names are created using the intergrafodervation technique (graphemes {*}, {%}, {#}, and numbers), and 3 % are created using the supragrafodervation technique, specifically through halophrasis. It has been established that in a number of cases, when creating route nominations in Russian regions, several meta-graphic techniques are used at once (about 5 % of examples). The author concludes that meta-graphic techniques perform a number of functions: attractive, informative, compressive, targeted, expressive, and others. It has been noted that the use of a particular meta-graphic technique can make it difficult to understand a specific iteronym, requiring additional extralinguistic knowledge for successful decoding.
