Abstract. In the paper, the authors analyze the prospects for the use of artificial intelligence in various spheres of life in Russian society. In this regard, the authors conducted a sociological survey on the applicability of artificial intelligence in various spheres of society. The analysis of the data obtained allowed us to draw a number of significant conclusions. It was found that the majority of respondents consider education and science, healthcare, medicine, transport and traffic management, art, creativity and design, and household spheres as the most acceptable areas of application of artificial intelligence. In their opinion, such areas as ensuring public safety, social protection, public administration and economic management are less promising. The analysis of the survey data allowed us to draw a very significant conclusion that the potential of social transformations under the influence of artificial intelligence technologies is seen to be especially high in the long-term and futurological perspective. Artificial intelligence is considered by the majority of respondents mainly as a self-learning, development-capable computer program or as an improved data processing system that allows many times to increase the speed of processing and analysis. Surveys on attitudes towards artificial intelligence indicate that most respondents believe that its use should be limited only to certain areas of activity due to extremely high risks, a small part of the audience is in favor of using artificial intelligence without restrictions, however — just as few of the respondents oppose the use of artificial intelligence, in particular in principle.
