Abstract. The paper examines the evolution of the Russian-speaking esports community in the 2022–2024s. The research focuses on current changes in the composition of community communication due to changes in the international political environment. In this paper, the author analyzes how Russian-speaking esports teams reacted to international political conflicts, how their approach to conducting activities has changed and what effect this has had on the entire Russian-speaking esports community. At the same time, it is extremely important for this paper that the Russian-speaking professional esports community, especially the most successful teams, quite often consist of mixed squads, very often Russians and Ukrainians play in the same team. The author concludes that political contradictions have failed to break up the Russian-speaking esports community, and the teams, as well as the fans, have largely retained their composition. The author considers the presence of a common language (Russian) as a key factor in the existence of the esports community, which makes communication the simplest and most effective. A common language forms a common narrative and common behavioral practices for the esports community. At the same time, the author emphasizes that in the long term, an important aspect of the erosion of the community in this case is the refusal of residents of a number of post-Soviet states to use Russian as the language of everyday communication (primarily about the Baltic States and Ukraine) against the background of political contradictions with Russia.
