Abstract. The purpose of this article is to examine the peculiarities of the development of the language of Russian philosophy and the formation of its national features, starting from the period of the birth of Russian philosophical thought. The article notes that already the most ancient monuments of Russian literature reveal both the philosophical nature of the thought of Russian authors, the interrelation of linguistic and philosophical subjects, and the nascent specific features of the Russian language, its multifaceted possibilities and inexhaustible philosophical potential. The article emphasizes that, in the opinion of many scholars of ancient Russian works, the original Russian, rather than Church Slavonic (Old Bulgarian) language is the basis of the formation of the domestic literary language. At the initial stage of development of Russian philosophical thought, mentalization was a characteristic feature of translations of philosophical terminology; later such methods of translation and the formation of philosophical terms such as tracing and transposition began to prevail. Tracing, due to the unique structure of the Russian language and its high potential for forming words, has become the dominant and effective method of creating the Russian philosophical terminological system. The author focuses on the fact that such bright features as poetry, idiomaticity, dependence on the aesthetic factor, form the national identity of the Russian philosophical language. The artistry of Russian philosophy can be called as one of its main features. The article forms the opinion that for many Russian thinkers the meaning of philosophy was not in a rational solution of life problems, but, to a greater extent, in understanding the causes of human suffering, a constant confrontation between good and evil, which took artistic, journalistic or poetic forms. The article concludes that as a result of a long historical and cultural development, the Russian language, including the language of Russian philosophy, has evolved into a powerful and perfect European language.
