Abstract. This article deals with the practical issues of linguopersonology related to the understanding of the two key characters of F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel «The Brothers Karamazov», acting as ideological antagonists, which is reflected in the discursive representation of the linguistic personality of the characters. To date, linguistic research in the field of linguopersonology has not touched the discursive analysis of the images of the literary heroes of the «Brothers Karamazov». Meanwhile, the analysis of their linguistic presentation and self-presentation in the novel has not only narrowly practical, but also theoretical significance, as it reveals some common approaches to the description of artistic (artificial, fictitious) language personality.

The author of the novel focuses the reader’s attention on the thesaurus of characters, which determines the purposeful selection of key lexemes that verbalize the semantic dominants of Alyosha and Ivan Karamazov. When addressing the issues of discursive representation of the character’s personality as artistic («fictitious») personality the approach to the description of the linguistic personality proposed in the works of Yu.N. Karaulov and his followers is productive. At the same time, in the disclosure of the artistic image of the character, several discursive «themes» can be identified: portrait drawing; replicas of the hero (external speech); internal speech. The analysis of fragments representing the external and internal speech of Ivan Fedorovich and Alyosha Karamazov revealed the key content features of the considered artistic images of the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky. The results obtained suggest that the theory of language personality is quite applicable to the description of fictitious-artistic — «language personality» of a character, and the integrative, linguistic-literary, approach is productive in the field of discursive analysis of a literary text and its components.
