Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of one of the thematic groups of historicisms of the Mansi language — military vocabulary.

Objective: to identify and classify the thematic group of military terminology used in the heroic songs and legends of the Mansi people. Research materials: texts of heroic songs and legends of the «The Eminent Bogatyrs of the Ob lands» (2010).

Results and scientific novelty. For the first time in Mansi linguistics, in accordance with the objective of the study, an inventory of military terminology was identified based on the texts of heroic songs and legends; the inventory was systematized in accordance with the names of weapons and their components.

Based on the current modern achievements in the field of Mansi language research, the practical significance of the work undertaken is due to the implementation of its results in the development of dictionaries, teaching aids, and digital projects such as the National Corpus of the Mansi Language and the Yandex Translate, which helps to increase the possibilities of new research in the field of linguistics, and therefore there is a definite trend towards preserving and improving the Mansi language.
