Abstract. The authors’ scientific study of the communicative accuracy of a legal document, which is essentially a legal act, is based on a linguistic analysis of a legal text embedded in law enforcement practice. A legal document, being not only a material object, also represents, to varying degrees, a successful communicative action.

The purpose of this study is to determine the communicative accuracy of a generalized legal document by formulating its components in law enforcement practice.

The research process has shown that the lack of accuracy in expressing the author’s idea and intention when preparing a legal document is one of the causes of frequent communication problems leading to conflicts that are regarded as communication failure.

The article emphasizes the importance that the communicative accuracy of the text of a legal document arises at the utterance-text level. Just as the meaning of a text does not consist solely mechanically of the meanings of its constituent words and sentences, so communicative accuracy does not consist solely of significatively and denotatively precise words. A communicative act through a legal document is a legal communication, because its participants act in the legal field and exercise their rights. The analysis of the factual material allowed us to conclude that the concept of legal communication is currently steadily forming the features of the term, as it is used in a strictly defined scientific context and strives for a uniform interpretation.
