The image of the Chinese in the tourist reviews of Russian tourists

Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of lexico-representative features of the Chinese people in the reviews of Russian tourists posted on Internet sites and social networks. The relevance of this work is determined by the insufficient knowledge of tourist reviews presented in Russian social networks in the aspect of the study of lexical and stylistic means of this type of text. The purpose of the article is to study the lexical and representative features of the Chinese people in the reviews of Russian tourists posted on Internet sites and social networks. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are being solved: (1) define the concept of a tourist’s review; (2) analyze reviews from the point of view of positive/negative connotation; (3) identify lexical and stylistic means in the tourist’s online reviews. The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the results obtained can be used in teaching lessons of linguistics, regional studies, and the results can also be applied in the practical activities of employees of a travel company.

The research methods were: descriptive method, including methods of observation, generalization, content analysis and comparison; method of continuous sampling and analysis of lexical units. The material of the study is the feedback of Russian tourists about a trip to China.

The paper examines such criteria as the nature of Chinese nationality, the peculiarities of the manner of dressing, the characteristics of the value of family in Chinese culture, the uniqueness of Chinese behavior, the language barrier for Russian tourists; vocabulary describing these criteria is presented; and also lists interesting aspects of Chinese culture that Russian tourists pay attention to.

The article is of interest to researchers studying China and its culture. The results of the analysis presented in the paper can be used in the preparation of lecture courses on linguoculturology and intercultural communication.
