Abstract. The paper is devoted to the analysis of specific social moods that are formed among young people in the districts affected by vandal activities. The authors note, that contemporary scientific literature often describes vandalism as a form of aggressive transformation of the urban environment. So, the authors consider vandalism as an important factor of transformation of the living environment and suppose, that potentially this factor can influence on the appearance of the territory and on the moods of its inhabitants. The authors describe the results of empirical verification of this hypothesis, which was implemented by using of two scientific methods. The first method was a sociological observation, which was implemented in 7 districts of Ekaterinburg and provided information about the level of vandal destruction in every district. The second method was a questionnaire survey, which was organized in order to clarify basic social moods of young people in these districts. Combination and comparison of the data collected by these two methods allowed to make a conclusion that the vandal destruction of the district does not have a significant effect on the mood of young people. Differences between moods of young people exist, and authors describe certain discrepancies in the feelings of young people from different districts. However, the study showed that there is no clear evidence, that moods of young people are influenced by the laval of vandal destruction of their district.
