Abstract. A literary text is a unique type of communication, because it has special means of the author’s influence on the reader. The communicative intentions of the author are subject to certain attitudes, and, in general, the act of communication between the reader and the writer can be characterised as a complex cognitive process. The artistic discourse represents an artistic reality, the main constituent element of which is the personality. The idea of anthropocentrism implies that the person is the object of linguistic and cultural comprehension. In fiction, the central role is given to the character of a literary work as a model of a person in real life. The aim of the study is therefore to prove the similarity of female characters in Dan Brown’s novels on the basis of identifying common features in their literary portraits. The study is of particular relevance considering the fact that the issues of literary portraying of characters in the novels of the above-mentioned writer have not been studied in sufficient detail. The article deals with portrait descriptions of female characters at the moment of their appearance in the novels, upon meeting the protagonist Robert Langdon. Authors stress the importance of the comparative analysis of characters. Based on the analysis of portrait characteristics, the authors identify such lines of comparison as the age, the appearance and character traits of the heroines. As a result of the study, authors come to the conclusion that the characters in question have common features of appearance and character, which highlight the close connection between these images in the system of characters created by Dan Brown.
