Abstract. The article contains social and technological aspects of rehabilitation of alcohol and drug addicted people. The rehabilitation types of this category, as well as the components of the rehabilitation process, are specified in this article. Alcohol and drug addicts have problems not only with their health, they also have a number of social problems which are the result of psychoactive substances addiction. Alcohol and drug addicts are prone to difficulties in establishing social ties and relationships. They can also face complete isolation, which is a negative factor contributing to the continuation of alcohol and drug use. Concentrating their lives on their addiction, addicts further experience difficulties in social adaptation, face the loss of a job or other source of livelihood, and perhaps even become homeless. Also, due to the use of psychoactive substances, addicts have higher risks of disability, which subsequently can only increase the number of social problems.

Alcohol and drug addicts are often seen as two different categories of people but they have similar social problems and technological aspect of treatment. It is known nowadays that people addicted to psychoactive substances need comprehensive treatment, which includes not only the medical aspect, but also the social one. Treatment of alcohol and drug addicts is very complicated. Sometimes it is very hard to achieve effective result and to avoid the risk of relapse.

The article contains the research data of people who have undergone rehabilitation. The obtained data indicate that the technology of social rehabilitation contributes to the restoration of lost skills of those who have undergone the rehabilitation program as part of getting rid of addiction to psychoactive substances.
