Abstract. The article deals with individual author’s interpretation of the situation of wine drinking on the example of historical detective of Boris Akunin, his series of novels “The Adventures of Erast Fandorin”. The author presents a brief review of the works devoted to the study of the situation of wine drinking, especially religious and mythological, linguistic, discursive and intercultural studies. The concept is considered, on the one hand, as a multilayered structure, which is traditionally used to distinguish conceptual, value and image components; on the other hand, the literary concept includes both a universal understanding peculiar to society and an individual author’s interpretation conditioned by the worldview, the author’s life experience, and the individuality of perception. This article focuses on the Bacchic image of man, which is created through the perception of his actions. The author conventionally divided Bacchic action into three options: the current, usual and one that can be called a habit or characteristic of a person. The current action is connected with the time line, refers to the present, future or past, in some cases, the Bacchic action is the background picture and fits into a number of characteristics of the person, in others it opens a number of dynamic narrative characterizing the situation of the feast. The usual action covers a wider time range is either a kind of routine, or explaining the sign of the hero’s behavior. When describing habits/characteristics of the character as a whole, either a negative image is created with an explication of his weaknesses (this is, as a rule, a tendency to alcohol), or a positive image with an emphasis on the rejection of alcohol and a conscientious attitude to work. In some cases, the attitude to alcohol may be nationally or professionally marked. The author comes to the conclusion that the created image of Bacchic man, his literary interpretation is due to the author’s idiostyle.
