Philosophy of history in the novel by Vladimir Tendryakov «Attempt on the mirages»

Abstract. The article examines the distinctive stylistic features of the vertex of the works of Vladimir Tendryakov «Attempt on the mirages «The novelty of the approach to the study of the text is associated with the consideration of the poetics of the novel at the intersection of literature and philosophy. Consideration of the philosophical research of the author allows not only to identify characteristic features of idiostyle artist, but also to correlate his work with a philosophical prose. The stylistic originality of the novel by V. Tendryakov is manifested in the combination of lyricism, expressive images, diary form and philosophy, based on paradoxical judgments; in the search for solutions to global social, moral and ethical problems in connection with the relationship of modern and past, going back centuries; in a free composition, determined only by the movement of the author’s thoughts, his memories and associations.

The aim of the research is the study of the philosophy of history represented in the novel by V. Tendryakov, in light of the author’s concerns about the problems (What are the origins, driving forces and ways of the historical process? What does technological progress lead to? How do randomness and regularity, freedom and necessity, people and personality correlate in historical discourse? What is the continuity of historical epochs?).

Speaking about the trajectory of historical development, the characters of V. Tendryakov come to several conclusions: 1) History creates creators, but also individuals create History; there are no unknown people in History; 2) «the higher the productive forces, the higher the rate of development, their devouring»; 3) the troubles of mankind at all times not in the mode of production, but in the person.

The results of the study allow us to conclude that the novel by V. Tendryakov can be attributed to the tradition of the romantic concept of art as myth-making, in the direction of which L.Andreev («Judas Iscariot»), M. Bulgakov («Master and Margarita»), Arkady and Boris Strugatsky («Burdened with evil») proved themselves. At the same time, the peculiarity of the novel «Attempt on the mirages» is a deliberate polemic, the author’s desire to provoke the reader, to put questions before him… and the hope for the wisdom of the reader.
