Abstract. The article examines the problem of the resocialization of convicts in the context of modern sociological discourse. Re-socialization is a key step in the process of correcting people who have served their sentences and their successful return to society. In the context of dynamic social changes and the transformation of value orientations, there is a need to rethink traditional approaches to the process of resocialization.

The author analyzes the main concepts of resocialization, identifies its barriers and promising areas of development. Special attention is paid to a differentiated approach that allows taking into account the individual characteristics of convicts, as well as the influence of social institutions, including the justice system, the labor market, etc. The article examines the problem of stigmatization of former convicts and its impact on the adaptation process.

As a result of the analysis, proposals are formulated to improve the effectiveness of resocialization practices that take into account modern sociological trends. The article will be useful to specialists in the field of penitentiary sociology, criminal and penal enforcement law, as well as specialists in the field of social adaptation and prevention of recidivism.

Keywords: resocialization; sociological discourse; penal enforcement system; penitentiary society; penitentiary deviant behavior; destructive manifestations; penitentiary institutions
