Abstract. The article contains an analysis of verbs with substitutive semantics functioning in the Even language. As a rule, in traditional morphology, verbs with pronominal semantics are not considered as an independent category, despite this, there are enough terms in the scientific literature denoting the corresponding verbs: «deictic verbs», «pronoun», «verbs with pronominal semantics», «pronominal verbs», «pronominal verbs». In the Siberian subgroup of the Tungusic-Manchurian languages, substitutive words are correlated not only with nominal parts of speech, but also with adverbs and verbs. Despite this, according to the tradition established in Russian linguistics, Even pronouns were considered in the direct meaning of the term as substitutes for nominal parts of speech. V.A. Robbek was one of the first to draw attention to the functional and semantic features of the class of Even verbs with a substitutive meaning, considering the interrogative verb «yadai» as part of the semantic category of interrogative pronouns. N.Ya. Bulatova proposed a functional and grammatical classification of pronominal words correlating with the substituted parts of speech, A.L. Malchukov noted the lexico-grammatical heterogeneity of interrogative pronouns, which have differences in their partial characteristics, and there are questions about nominal parts of speech — nouns (iak «that», «that» (about animals), ng «that») and adjectives (for example, irek «that»), adverbs, and even verbs. A detailed analysis of verbal substitutes in the Even language is relevant due to the need for detailed fixation and systematization of materials of the endangered Even language. The article is part of a dissertation study of the pronominal system of the Even language.
