Despite the fact that the study of comparisons in this variant of the language is of interest, it cannot be said that it was widespread. The specificity of the representation of comparison semantics in the English language variant under study is determined by the fact that comparisons are frequently used in the Australian version of English to convey characteristic local realities reflecting the connections between the language, the environment and the mentality of its speakers. The purpose of the study is to determine the features of the use of three types of comparative constructions of the English language (with components than, as, like) based on semantic and syntactic features. The research is based on the material of political speeches. It is revealed that in the context of political discourse, these constructions are mainly used to influence the audience, while performing the standard function of comparison \u2014 establishing similarities or differences between structural elements of the structure. The syntactic characteristics of constructions using the like, than, and as components, which are manifested through their phrasal and clausal structures, are described. It is also determined that the structure of the comparison is characterized by a specific arrangement of the components of the comparison and punctuation features due to the syntactic nature of the construction.
