The object of research is the object-spatial environment of the office as a material and symbolic artifact of professional culture. The subject is cultural meanings, value orientations and communicative patterns embodied in architectural and design solutions of the office and determining its role in the formation of corporate identity and work ethics. The purpose of the work is to reveal the mechanisms of translation of cultural values through office space in historical dynamics and in the context of modern challenges (digitalization, pandemic). Based on the analysis of the evolution of office forms — from the first offices to the concept of Activity‑Based Working (flexible layout) — the authors show how changes in the organization of the environment reflect shifts in mental attitudes, patterns of interaction and norms of professional behavior. Special attention is paid to the symbolic function of interiors, zoning and the communicative potential of various planning solutions. The study demonstrates that the object-spatial environment of the office acts as an active agent of the cultural policy of the organization, forming the values, norms and behavioral patterns of employees. Therefore, office design today requires not only engineering and ergonomic knowledge, but also a deep understanding of the cultural mechanisms through which space affects humans. The principles considered make it possible to better understand how the structure of office premises should be formed, which forms the basis for further consideration of specific types of office spaces and ergonomic requirements that must be taken into account when designing them.

Keywords: office space; corporate culture; Activity‑Based Working; flexible layout; interior design; zoning; corporate design; value translation; identity; evolution of the work environment

Monakhova Lada Dmitrievna State University of Education, Moscow, Russia E-mail: Ld.monakhova@guppros.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0266-7282 RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=912729 Mazharov Vladislav Dmitrievich Domgazobeton LLC, Moscow, Russia E-mail: gamper2004@gmail.com Suzdaltsev Evgeny Leonidovich State University of Education, Moscow, Russia E-mail: egens@mail.ru RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=759528 Abstract.
