Galperin&#8217;s text categories and V.E. Morozov&#8217;s strategies, J. Austin&#8217;s criteria for successful communicative acts, and G.P. Grice&#8217;s principle of cooperation. The authors present the results of an experiment using an educational chatbot in the research work of students at Tyumen State University. Thirty second-year students majoring in Linguistics participated in the experiment. A lecturer contributed to the chatbot&#8217;s development, preparing and providing a catalog of authoritative open-access scientific sources. To prevent data falsification, the chatbot was not given internet access.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The study revealed that the main categories of chatbot text in scientific discourse include informativeness, articulation, integration, and completeness. The chatbot&#8217;s responses revealed strategies consistent with the author of the scientific text. The interaction between a student and a chatbot is examined from the perspective of the success of the communicative act, in accordance with J. Austin&#8217;s criteria and G.P. Grice&#8217;s principle of cooperation. All success criteria, with the exception of sincerity, are met.
