Freud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Baturina Natalia Viktorovna<\/strong><br \/>\nSiberian federal university, Krasnoyarsk, Russia<br \/>\nE-mail: nr80@yandex.ru<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Abstract.<\/strong> The paper considers the main stages in the development of marriage and family relationship. The covered period is from 360s BC to 1910s which is the beginning of modern. First, the author gives the definitions of \u201cmarriage\u201d and \u201cfamily\u201d and suggests using of a coined term \u201cfamily\/marriage\u201d due to the modern tendency: people prefer not getting married but living together with a shared household and sometimes children. Second, the article employs a comparative method to describe the ideas influenced on family and marriage the most. According to the author, the following scientists contributed to the development: Plato who thought about gender equality; Aristotle who first studied family as a social phenomenon; I. Kant and G.W.F. Hegel who considered marriage to be something moral based on a contract between a man and a woman with a special ceremony performed; F. Le Play who wrote about three family types and their cultural environment; J.J. Bachofen who discovered the \u201cmother right\u201d or matriarchy in the ancient societies; J.F. McLennan who first applied such terms as \u201ckinship\u201d, \u201cexogamy\u201d and \u201cendogamy\u201d to families and marriage; L.H. Morgan who compared the system of kinship and presented five family types; F. Engels who wrote about economics as a crucial feature for family life; S. Freud who combined the impact of culture and marriage on a person\u2019s sexuality.
