This allows us to determine how individual lexemes from heterogeneous lexical-semantic groups, being part of a plant name, influence their name. This article analyzes the folk and dialect names of herbaceous, berry and medicinal plants familiar and used by the Yakut people in their daily activities. Given that dialectal phytonyms are currently falling out of active use and are located on the distant periphery of the lexical system due to globalization processes occurring in the world, addressing this topic is highly relevant. The scientific novelty of this article lies in the fact that for the first time it describes in detail the formal-semantic structure of simple and complex plant names, and also formulates and characterizes the principles of their name. Based on the analysis of the principles of formation of names of plant objects, elements reflecting the national and cultural characteristics of language speakers are identified. The study systematized vernacular and dialectal plant names in the Yakut language, identified onomasiological universals of nomination and described the motivational features underlying phytonyms, reflecting the historical, cultural and natural conditions of the region.
