For Blunt, love is not just a feeling, but a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, closely intertwined with images of war, trial, and physical fluid. These various metaphors help to create a multi-layered meaning, reflecting the complexity of emotions inherent in love. Through lexical units and metaphorical constructions, James Blunt conveys deep emotional states such as suffering, loss, struggle, and hope. The article develops theoretical material, examines the main concepts, which allows to consider metaphor not only as a lexical category, but also as a way of shaping the perception of the world by native speakers. The study of metaphors in the lyrics of James Blunt’s songs confirms their importance as a tool for creating imagery and understanding the dynamics of love. The authors of the article emphasize that metaphors in poetic practice play a key role in understanding human emotions. As a result of the analysis of James Blunt’s song lyrics, researchers come to the conclusion that conceptual metaphors act not only as a stylistic device, but also as mental models that help listeners interpret their own experiences in relationships, creating a rich and emotional fabric that deepens understanding of the theme of love and its complex aspects.

Keywords: conceptual metaphor; idioms; image of love; author’s metaphor; song lyrics; song text; trite metaphor; animated metaphor

Pestova Maria Sergeevna Russian State University of Social Technologies, Moscow, Russia E-mail: pestova@rgust.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7996-9636 RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=649194 SCOPUS: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.url?authorId=57200243252 Izumrudova Violetta Romanovna Russian State University of Social Technologies, Moscow, Russia E-mail: violettaizumrudova@yandex.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0009-0006-7740-1576 Shlenskaya Nataliya Markovna Russian State University …

[39,5

post-4635","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-issue-2-2025","category-article
["GET
