The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of civic responsibility of representatives of the modern youth cohort and the definition of the nature of its boundaries in relation to the subjects of the digital generation (\u00abdigital\u00bb youth). The author substantiates the relevance and significance of the research topic. The choice of the object of the study \u2014 the digital generation (youth cohort) is argued, its characteristics are given, including from the standpoint of the theory of generations. The thematic terminological apparatus of the study is developed: the author&#8217;s definition of the term \u00absocial responsibility\u00bb, \u00abcivic responsibility\u00bb is proposed. Attention is drawn to the inclusion of the category of \u00abfreedom\u00bb in some definitions of the second term. It is noted that the boundaries of internal freedom, as a criterion of civic responsibility of an individual, are directly dependent on the satisfaction of which (whose) needs are primary for him \u2014 individual (personal) or social. Based on the characterological portrait of the digital youth cohort, the author concludes that there is a possibility of a dichotomy of \u00abresponsibility \u2014 irresponsibility\u00bb, the balance of which thus depends on the content and structure of the civic ideologeme. The definition of the phenomenon and description of the civic ideologeme are given, and its universal boundaries are highlighted. The components of civic responsibility (motive, social activity, international position, legal responsibility) are considered, and the possibility of considering them as criteria for the formation of the civic ideologeme of representatives of the digital youth cohort is indicated.
