He expresses his subjective point of view on the realities described. From the prism of his perception the reader can see countries, behavior and everyday life of it\u2019s citizens. As a result imagological image is created and the narrator becomes a mediator between cultures. Travelogues \u00abAll day round non-stop\u00bb and \u00abIn search of melancholy baby\u00bb written by Russian author V. Aksenov are chosen as illustrative material. The novelty of the investigation consists in the fact that for the first time the image of America described in the travelogue is shown from imagological position. The analysis of this image demonstrates ambivalence of the author\u2019s point of view and it\u2019s transformation. At the beginning the USA raises in Aksenov solely positive emotions. American university where he worked as a visiting professor teaching Russian literature admired him greatly. The writer communicated with Russian emigrants a lot and he touches upon a very important culturological and human problem: how to keep national identity in the alien although multicultural country. Gradually we can observe the changes in the author\u2019s outlook and his disappointment in the \u00abcountry of equal opportunities\u00bb. In conclusion the transformation in the perception of the USA takes place.
