To use this method, each time the researcher must determine what exactly can be measured and what will act as a unit of measurement. If units of astronomical time external to the objects under study are chosen as the unit, we are dealing with a quantitative approach. If the content-semantic characteristics of the studied objects are chosen as units, time is used in its qualitative version.
