The novelty of the article lies in the investigation the sources of foundation of the theory of exclusiveness which appeared at the times of the Great Charter and declared the exceptional position of British nation. There are some objective reasons for the foundation of this theory: geographical isolation of Great Britain. They underlined absence of similarity of the English in comparison with other Europeans. In the 19 century the question of British exclusiveness became especially acute. England has turned into British empire and in order to justify annexation of the territories it started to impose these ideas. The pilgrims transferred it to American land and it absolutely coincided with the idea of \u201cCity upon the hill\u201d. Now the theory of exclusiveness has become spread on all Anglo-Saxon world. As a result the article concludes that in spite of the destruction of the USA as a melting pot, where from different races and nations a new American superman appeared, up to now many people believe that the USA is the country chosen by God, that can dictate the rules of behaviour to other countries.
