The generation “Z” is stressed to be the youngest, namely the representatives of this generation will soon become the builders of the country future. The article emphasizes that the term “theory of generations” was first coined by William Strauss and Neil Howe who were American scientists, presents their classification of the theory of generations: The Silent Generation (1923–1943), Baby-Boomers (1944–1960), Generation “X” (1961–1981), Generation “Y” or Millennials (1982–2004), Generation “Z” (2000–2011), Generation “A” (2012–present); gives the translation of the theory of generations into Russian realities. The article considers in detail the main features and linguistic features of the “Z” generation, meaning the generation of “MeMeMe”, which originated in the early 1990-s — 2000-s and characterized that grew up in correlation with the Internet. The article highlights the “Z” generation markers, namely: economy and business, society and entertainment, communication and social networks; analyses the lexical units of the “Z” generation representatives and their possible translation into Russian; gives the examples of non-equivalent English vocabulary that have no characteristic analogues in the Russian language. The article concludes that the “Z” generation representatives use rather unusual words and constructions, some of which fall into disuse and some are applied in speech for a longer time. The article focuses on such a feature of the “Z” character as a quick change of goals and preferences, and using a large number of new exclamatory constructions testifies to the increased emotionality of this generation representatives.

Keywords: theory of generations; lexical units; classification; values; markers; non-equivalent vocabulary; representative

Vorontsova Uliya Alexandrovna Bryansk State Technical University, Bryansk, Russia E-mail: Voroncova.yuliya@mail.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0969-434X RSCI: https://www.elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=291500 Cherochenko Dmitri Olegovich Bryansk State Technical University, Bryansk, Russia E-mail: Chdm789@gmail.com Abstract.
