Abstract.<\/strong> The article draws specifics and role of cultural context which influences upon every aspect of person\u2019s life, including leisure, implementing such methods as historical and culturally sensitive method, phenomenological, comparative and analytical methods. It is noted that a study of leisure should be conducted in combination with the analysis of social, economic and technological conditions affecting it. Many factors place pressure on leisure such as local, national and global, but the hallmark of modern leisure activity forms is their close link to rapid development of technologies. National cultural contexts absorb new meanings and they are therefore the subject to transformation. Fast-moving communications and technologies, porous nature of borders impact on recreational activities becoming the reason for leisure practices\u2019 export. The authors illustrate this situation analyzing the cultural context of leisure activities in China which is greatly widened today by the implementation of \u201calien\u201d cultural practices. Together with the trend towards export of leisure practices, characteristic for modern societies, the tendency of cultural distinguishing and refusing to copy directly leisure patterns is increasing. The authors believe that the process of leisure cultural contexts\u2019 transformation will be further deepened, especially under the influence of technology development. To some extent this will lead to similarity of leisure practices in different societies, but the wish to save identity allows to keep the specificity and uniqueness. The article also touches upon the actual problem of leisure practices\u2019 and preferences\u2019 transformation under the influence of pandemic on a global scale that forced to think about the meaning and place of leisure in modern society life, its role in maintaining life quality and in struggle with long-term stress.<\/p>\n
