Abstract.<\/strong> This article examines the evolution of the study of the concept of «cultural landscape» in modern historiography as a transdisciplinary object that unites specialists in various fields of knowledge (geographers, cultural scientists, specialists in the protection of cultural heritage, architects, etc.). the authors focus on the analysis of the achievements of ethnoculturology and geoculturology, as well as the philosophical concepts of «cultural landscape». The development of these ideas can be traced through cultural and historiographical methods of comparative analysis, the material for which is mainly the work of European and American scientists.<\/p>\n

The analysis of the concepts of representatives of Russian science is limited to the school of «cultural geography», which most closely reflects the directions of European research presented in this article. In addition, many of the theories of Russian and Western landscape scientists are considered by O.V. Galkova in earlier articles.<\/p>\n

The article asserts that modern research has put landscape theory on a new qualitative level of development, making a turn to posthumanistic methods of research. They supplemented and corrected many conclusions of landscape phenomenology with a relational view of the constantly changing world, the relationship of landscape and movement; landscape as an actor’s network, in which there is no division into purely natural and cultural objects, and in General the discreteness of objects to the detriment of unity and relationship; views of the landscape in the light of the philosophy of «new vitalism», inspired by the ideas of movement, subjectivity, perception and storytelling. Most likely, these planned lines of research will be further developed in landscape theory.<\/p>\n

The authors pay attention to the development of «old» scientific directions and the appearance of new ones at the intersection of interdisciplinary research: humanitarian, cultural and topological geographies, hybrid biogeography.<\/p>\n
