Abstract. This article continues to reveal the concept of the informative-motivational type of text — one of the modern varieties of scientific text. This type of text differs significantly from other types of scientific text by the abundance of expressive means of speech. This characteristic feature is explained by the pragmatics of the informative-motivational type of text — the author’s intention to present it in a more figurative manner in order to influence the reader’s consciousness and also attract his attention to the content of the article. The research process showed that economic texts contain a large number of lexical stylistic means, namely metaphors. The analysis of the factual material allowed us to conclude that there is a close relationship between metaphor and the process of human thinking. When describing the metaphors of economic texts, their emotional component is taken into account. When creating metaphors, authors of scientific texts often use complex terminology, linking it with everyday concepts familiar to the reader. The article provides a classification of metaphors according to the semantic principle based on the method of continuous sampling from Russian and English economic periodicals. The authors reveal the reasons for communicative errors of the reader when revealing the content of the metaphor in the scientific articles.
Keywords: informative-motivational type of scientific text; economic text; metaphorical construction; lexical stylistic means; thinking; associative connections; emotional impact
