Abstract. The article examines the impact of the English language on Russian culture, the desire to better understand how English penetrates the Russian society and influences the language practice, literature, cinema, music, art and other areas of the Russian’s cultural life. The work is aimed at identifying the interaction mechanisms between the two languages and interpreting how this influence shapes and changes Russian culture. The attention is focused on studying the processes of borrowing lexical units, phraseological units and grammar constructions from English into Russian, analysing their influence on the Russian language system and communication, Russian-speaking people’s cultural values, way of thinking and mentality. The paper emphasizes that the process of English linguistic borrowing into Russian is the result of close contact and interaction of cultures and languages, often resulting from the necessity to express new concepts and technologies that have appeared in the modern world. The English language influence on Russian culture in the field of music appears to be in various aspects, from song lyrics and album titles to the very sound and style of music. The conducted social survey allows drawing conclusions about different perceptions of the English language influence on Russian culture among respondents of various age groups. The younger generation (18–25 years old) shows more interest and a positive attitude towards the English language and its influence on Russian culture. With age, this favour and acceptance decline, and some respondents over 60 express concerns about preserving the Russian language and culture while spreading English. The conclusion is made about understanding the English language impact on Russian culture, the importance of a conscious approach to interaction with other languages and heritage, the necessity to maintain and promote the Russian language and cultural values to preserve national identity.
