The linguoculturological potential of the phytonym in the Russian language and its representation in the educational dictionary for the Serbian addressee (demonstrated on the example of the noun «branch»)

Abstract. The article is a part of the thesis devoted to the linguoculturological analysis of Russian phytonyms in comparison with those in the Serbian language. The study was based on the analysis of the existing lexicographic sources of Russian and Serbian, the “National Corpus of the Russian Language”, as well as the analysis of an associative experiment conducted among native speakers of the two Slavic languages. The author carried out a linguoculturological analysis of the phytonym ‘branch’. The results concluded that the phytonym has universal characteristics typical for the language picture of the world in both Slavic languages (for example, comparing a thin person with a branch). Also, it contains characteristics typical for only one of the two languages. For example, only in Russian, the phytonym ‘branch’ is used to name a metro line. Also, it is used in the Internet vocabulary to designate a specific forum topic, as well as a sequence of comments in it. The obtained results helped us develop the principles of constructing a complex entry of the linguoculturological dictionary of phytonyms in the Russian language, devoted to Serbian students studying Russian. The dictionary entry offers the inclusion of 11 zones containing the title word-phytonym «branch» with an indicated stress, grammatical marks, the translation of the word into Serbian, the drawing/image of the phytonym, an extended explanation of the phytonym, including both the main and all the figurative definitions of the title word, as well as the fixed expressions with this component. Moreover, synonyms, the diminutive form of the phytonym, the cultural information, the existing phraseological units with the component “branch”, their interpretation, ways of usage, stylistic marks, and precedent phenomena are also given. The illustration area presents the contexts of the usage of the phytonym “branch” selected from the «National Corpus of the Russian Language».
