Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of the Muslim community in the process of modern social and cultural transformations and further ways of its development. The evolution of social structure in the Islamic world through the prism of the interaction of Western and Muslim civilizations is analyzed. A civilizational approach is used, which provides an analysis of the ideas, principles and norms of the Muslim civilization within the system of values formed by the Muslim culture.
It is emphasized that various forms of social structure in the Islamic world and the directions of their development are explained by the spread of the Muslim community – Ummah – closed and self-sufficient social system, poorly interacting with the outside world. Actualized, the Muslim community is a tool for preserving traditions and combating external influence. Narrates about two ways of development of the Islamic community. It is concluded that the Muslim community, like all social groups of our time, in the global society is influenced by the processes of modernization and Westernization of culture, where Muslims are actively involved. The author draws attention to the fact that assessing the possibilities of transformation of the Muslim community, one should take into account the mobilizing and integrating potential of Islam, its structures and institutions. With the development of Muslim States, the development of communication systems, the intensification of migration flows, Islamic communities will inevitably face penetration into their daily lives and value system of foreign cultural elements, which will entail the process of transformation of the established traditional norms and rules.
The scientific article is of interest to students, postgraduates, doctoral students, researchers of cultural and spiritual specialization, as well as to all readers interested in Muslim culture.
